On Your Mark… Get Set… GO!

Come one, come all for the 16th annual Run for Ryan House starting Sunday, Nov. 15. We invite you to get outside and assist in our mission to continue to provide world-class care and programs for the medically fragile children and families we serve as they navigate life-limiting or end-of-life journeys.

As a health care organization who cares for some of Arizona’s most medically fragile children and due to the quickly changing nature of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we have decided to hold this year’s Run for Ryan House virtually. 

What is a Virtual Run – You Ask?

Virtual runs happen on your own schedule. If you decide to sign up for our virtual Run for Ryan House, you simply record your time as you run or walk in your neighborhood, on a treadmill, or in a park any time during our race period, which is November 15 – 22.

Who Can Run in a Virtual Race?

Anyone! One of the great things about virtual races is that they allow for participation from different parts of the country and anywhere in the world.  All levels of runners are encouraged to sign up because participants can choose to walk or run.

It’s a great way to get outside and spend quality time together as a family. Or, if you’ve already had too much quality time together (between remote learning and quarantining to name a few) our virtual run offers you some great “me” time while raising funds for the children with life-limiting conditions and families we serve.

New This Year!

We are doing a Virtual Run with a twist! If this is your first Virtual Run, it is simple – all you need to do is run anywhere in the world that you are. It could be around your neighborhood, on the treadmill, or even at another race/event you are already running. You must have the RunKeeper app downloaded before starting your virtual run.

But what is the twist? We are doing a “Competitive” Virtual Run. Along with our partners at Race Roster and RunKeeper App, we have developed a way for you to accurately track your run and report your time. No more “trusting” that everyone is running the same distance – now it is done automatically. That means that we can give out awards with the confidence that everyone is playing by the same rules.

To be eligible for Age Group awards you will have to track your run using the RunKeeper app. You will receive an email on Monday, Nov. 9 with a link to use to track your run. Once you reach your distance your results/time will automatically be uploaded to our Results page!

You will have eight days to complete your run (November 15 – 22). Awards will be mailed out along with your shirt and medal the week of October 5!

That’s it. Simple!!
